Our aim is to equip all of our students to live a balanced, healthy adult life. Physical Education (PE) in a broad range of sports and fitness activities is a critical part of achieving this goal, and all of our students have the opportunity to participate. We are proud of the very high level of participation with more than 60% of students having been involved in one or more competitive sports each year.
Inter-form competitions throughout the school give the opportunity for everyone to get involved in sport, and support their form. Students, teachers and parents are encouraged to spectate to enthusiastically support their school, and achievements will be proudly celebrated in school assemblies.
Our PE curriculum includes a wide range of winter and summer activities, including individual and team sports. Sport also features prominently in our extensive range of extra-curricular activities. Our students have the opportunity to take part in cycling workshops led by a British Cycling coach, row on the river Thames with our partnerships with Kingston Rowing Club, and are involved in all the fixtures and tournaments offered in the Richmond Borough School’s Sport Partnership.
We had some fantastic achievements in the 2016/17 season including: girls’ netball team finishing 3rd in the Richmond Borough Schools League, boys’ cricket team winning their Richmond heats and then finishing runners up in the Middlesex finals, boys’ rugby league team winning the Richmond Borough heats sending them through to the London Youth Games and then going on win the London Youth Games. Winning the London Youth Games has enabled us to qualify to play in the National School’s Competition which we have high expectations to succeed in.
